Rota's Illuminations

My friend Rota Egilsdottir is a scribe, and does such wonderful work that I felt she needed a place to display & record it. (Before she gives it away!) She has just begun doing illuminations for the SCA, (SCA Scrolls) but is very talented artist in real life. Here is some of her work...

This is a scroll that she made in May 2005 to be given as a Golden Alce scroll. (Given by the crown at Defenders of Sherwood V June 4, 2005) (Photo by Lord Alaxandair)

Thrown weapons tourney scroll at Defenders of Sherwood V. (June 2005) (Photo by Lord Alaxandair)

Archery tournament scroll for winner at Defenders of Sherwood V. (June 2005) (Photo by Lord Alaxandair)

Scroll given to the autocrat of Defenders of Sherwood V in appreciation of all his hard work. Scroll based upon an English bestiary c. 1255-1265.

Rota also made the scroll for the Gage tournament winner, but alas we didn't get a picture of it. :(

This is a scroll she made based on the "Office of the Dead" circa 1320's. (Feb 2005) Winner of the Baroness Choice Award at Ice Dragon 2005 (This scan unfortunatley does NOT give this piece justice.) Given to THL Mea the Bold as her Fluer scroll, War Practice 2005.

This is the thank you card that she sent to the Baroness for winning the above mentioned award. Her first attempt at Calligraphy with calligraphy pens.

This is an AOA scroll she did for a friend. 1/05

This is her first scroll. It looks even better in reality. 11/04

This is a scroll blank she did for fun. 12/04

This is an award scroll for a thrown weapons tourney that I ran. 11/04

This was the in-progress of a Christmas card that was given to her boss. 12/04

This is the gravestone that she painted for our cat, Cop.

This is the gravestone that she painted for Sinj.
